Sales Development Associate

Business Description:
Havener provides outsourced sales and marketing services to high quality investment management firms seeking to expand their assets under management within the institutional marketing arena, including intermediaries, RIAs, consultants, platforms, wealth advisors and family offices.

 

Position Description:
You have zero fear when it comes to picking up the phone. Yes, email is easier, but you know that sometimes the call gets it done. You ask questions. You get answers. Intellectually curious, thoughtful, a good listener – these are the qualities your friends admire in you. You like to find facts, research prospects, and take good notes. You are a master of scouring LinkedIn; resourceful is your middle name. You are our Sales Development Associate and under the direction of your assigned VP of Sales, you make opportunities happen.

On any given day, you might be dominating one (or more) of the follow responsibilities:

  • Build, grow, and nurture advisor relationships in an assigned territory to uncover new opportunities for Havener’s represented roster of investment boutiques
  • Master Havener’s proprietary sales process to proactively contact prospects in your territory/channel via phone, email and social media with the goal of scheduling calls and meetings
  • Uncover prospects’ active manager searches, understand search criteria, urgency, and present solutions from Havener’s roster of clients
  • Effectively articulate each investment manager’s story, philosophy, strategy and differentiators
  • Achieve goals and KPIs through thoughtful, focused, productivity
  • Qualify inbound leads and add opportunities to the sales funnel
  • Increase prospect participation in events and quarterly conference calls
  • Maintain CRM system to capture detailed notes and "intelligence" on prospects and status of opportunities
  • Work as a team with Sales Directors to uncover new opportunities
  • Proactively support team initiatives and complete special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Assist in any administrative duties for team as requested

 

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a professional with strong product knowledge who has either gained sales or investment analytics experience at an institutional money management firm, RIA, or other financial institution.  Desired qualifications/characteristics include: 

  • An understanding of both traditional and alternative investment strategies, as well as various investment vehicles including LPs, separate accounts, and mutual funds
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in sales or investment analysis
  • Highly motivated, proactive, entrepreneurial team player with diligent phone and follow-up skills
  • Must be able to cite examples of self-motivation and experience working independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail; so much so that you'll include #wearehcp in the last line of your resume when you apply
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as CRM Systems such as Salesforce.com and other related programs
  • Series 7 license preferred; must obtain Series 7 license within 3 months of employment
  • Office location in Newport, RI; working remotely may be feasible based on candidate experience and tenure
